This New Haven EP5 is one of my most prized American Flyer trains. It was given to me for Christmas nearly 60 years ago. It was stored away since 1972. When I got it out recently it just sat and hummed. I decided to find a repair/service specialist and chose David Horn at Precision Flyer Repairs. To say that I am satisfied with the restoration would be a huge understatement. David's work is spectacular. Watching this EP-5 run takes me back nearly 50 years to my family's home basement with my Dad and younger brother running our American Flyer trains for hours on end...what great memories! Thank you, David. You will being getting more work from me in the near future. Marty H.

Just got the NP 490/491/493 set back today. Runs great and the Roar is quite loud as you mentioned. Thanks for getting this trio ‘back on track’. Will definitely put you as my ‘go to’ guy for repairs, and will recommend you to other Flyer fans. Thanks. Ron P.

Dave’s train work is outstanding. I am so glad I found him to service mine. I gave him three steam engines that had been worked on by other shops, but still weren't running well, if at all. Dave got them running great. I’m going to give him more engines to repair and upgrade. By the way, his packaging and shipping are also second to none. Kerry R.

Dave, my AF 21573 NH EP5 and AF 377 T&P GP7 just arrived, unharmed, and I just ran them. I am so pleased with the performance of both. I just can't get over how well they run. Thanks so much for getting these up and running. Kevin K.

Dave overhauled my favorite AF Comet Alco PA diesel engine. It was badly worn, could barely move, and was missing all of its decals, but it turned out great. I gave Dave several more engines from my childhood to work on. They were in pretty bad shape too, but run great now that Dave repaired them. When I need my trains serviced I turn to Precision Flyer Repairs. Bill

Dave did a great job on several DCC engines for me — steam and diesel. None of them were working right. They had a wide variety of issues including blown motors, decoders, and smoke units along with bad wiring, drivetrain problems, and shoddy decoder and speaker installations. Dave worked with manufacturers to get me exchange pricing when possible, installed new equipment more securely and higher quality speakers with handcrafted enclosures, replaced faulty wiring, addressed running gear issues, and made certain the custom lighting and sound features that I wanted were included and programmed correctly. When Dave was done they ran fast, smooth, smoky, and loud — just the way I like them. Click here to see one of them in action. He also helped me troubleshoot my layout onsite to get the most out of them and my other engines. I highly recommend Precision Flyer Repairs for S-gauge train and layout servicing. David A.

A master at repairing American Flyer and all S gauge trains. I trust Dave with my repairs and know that my engines will run as if they were just newly purchased. Dave takes the time to inform you what parts are required to service the engines and a cost estimate. There are no surprises when it comes to repair costs. Dave keeps you well informed as to the progress of the repair. Precision flyer is the BEST!!! Phil L.
The PA’s arrived safely yesterday. I have a temporary test track set-up on which I was able to run them and I was amazed at how well they now run. I cannot imagine they ran any better when they were brand new! Excellent work, Dave. You are definitely an American Flyer “Master Mechanic”.Tom B.
While cleaning out some boxes I came across my dad’s old 1950’s American Flyer set with the #303 engine. I was so disappointed when I found it unable to run and began looking for someone who could get this old engine running again. It has tremendous sentimental value to me and I was nervous about sending it out for repair, but after emailing Dave and discussing his similar history with the AF #303 engine I knew my train was in good hands. He certainly didn’t disappoint. The train looks and runs better today than I ever remember it running when I was a kid. I was also thrilled to see he had recorded a video of our 303’s running together on his track (found here). I can’t say enough about Dave and Precision Flyer Repairs, I highly recommend him to everyone who needs servicing on their engines. Dan A.
I’ve run the 350 quite a bit. Runs beautifully! I’m extremely pleased with the results of your repair/tune-up efforts. In fact, I’d like to systematically cycle my post war fleet of American Flyer engines thru your shop. My UP 372 will be next. Thanks again. Paul F.
Dave, I am so pleased with the outcome of these two steam locomotives. I threw a sheet of plywood down and set up an oval and I'm very pleased with how they came out. I'll let you know when I'm about to send another one. Or two. Kevin K.
I inherited a lot of AF engines from my father. I gave Dave a couple of them that did not run. They turned out so well that I gave him more to work on. In the end he refurbished fourteen engines for me. They run great now. I enjoy running every one of them. Jim G.
I found Dave's prices fair and reasonable. He also took the time to show and explain to me everything he did. Before moving to Florida I asked Dave to go through nearly thirty American Flyer engines from my collection. They were in various states of functional readiness, but I knew he would give each one the care and attention it needed. They turned out great and run terrific. Mike C.
Dave upgraded all four of my very large custom-made S-gauge steam engines with electronic reverse units. He also fixed drive train issues and other operating problems. They run great now and are more fun to run than ever. Click here to see my gigantic UP 4-12-4 that was wobbly and now runs straight as an arrow. Rick L.
I have an extensive collection of postwar and modern S gauge locomotives, rolling stock and accessories. I trust Dave with everyone of them. Once I gave him nearly twenty of my locomotives to go through and make sure everything was functioning the way it should. My batch included Gilbert and Lionel AF, Legacy AF, S-Helper, and American Models locomotives. Dave knows how to work on all of them and got them in tip-top running condition for me in good time. I look forward to getting more of my locomotives, rolling stock and accessories out of storage and getting them to Dave to clean, maintain and revitalize. Thank you "Diesel" Dave. David B.

I recently purchased an American Flyer layout, to find some of the cars damaged and steam and diesel locomotives in need of repair. I sent a few repairs to Dave and I am very pleased with his professional results. He is an exceptional repairman and provides a quick turn around. I highly recommend Dave's work. Chuck A.
Dave repaired several of my S gauge engines. They ran great after he was done with them, so I asked him to build me a box car with a sound system in it that I can use by itself and with engines that have speakers in them. It looks sharp and sounds terrific. I can even choose from different engine sounds and swap box car bodies when I want to. Click here to see and hear it in action. Gill L.
Dave's work is wunderbar!!! He has done a great job working on my Flyer engines and accessories over the years. Once I provided him a very intricate animated musical German-style Christmas house full of gears, axles, cams, you name it, so that doors open and close in synch with the music that it plays. It didn’t work. I thought it was a goner, but Dave fixed it. My wife and I were thrilled. Dave can fix just about anything. Bob G.
