Removing white mold-release agent from old AF plastic
Old mold-release agent "grows" out from early production plastics
Not only unsightly...
... but also stiffens up link couplers and prevents them from pivoting
Apply a little CRC Power Lube to both sides of the LC
Work the coupler with your hands to free it up
Use a nylon brush on a Dremel, or alcohol, or a hairdryer and wipe
There are 2 layers - the white "dust" and a scale beneath that. Here the white is gone, but the scale remains.
Here the scale is gone
White removed, but scale remains
White and scale removed. Down to original plastic. Injection point and a few prior scratches are all that's left
